QAQC tool to analyze pavement smoothness/ride quality of models. This would help verify model density is appropriate for paving use, verify design intent.
The goal is to simplify the process and have any easy method to analyze pavement from both internal and external partners at various stages. There are multiple scenarios that are applicable.
Ride is a simplistic value that can help scoping processes in preliminary design for problem areas. Design determines if template intervals are lacking/excessive and the quality of the model. It helps pinpoint problem areas and reduce risk that proposed model meets ride incentive expectations before it hits the field. Construction can also determine if derived models from contractors meet expectations.
We want to have "virtual ride" of at each stage of a project for both existing surfaces, preconstruction models, and post construction models. For design model quality and and then be compared to actual ride.
For our stringless milling and paving jobs we are preforming these analytics, but it is cumbersome. We only see the need as growing to be incorporated in all projects.
A standardized report format for ProVal is definitely a start. Currently we are just using their text import wizard and importing each wheel track separately.
