OBM Place Bearing List Order Causing Item and Material Misclassification

The current order of OBM’s Place Bearing groups is creating significant confusion regarding which item group corresponds to the Bearing and Grout Pad/Bevel Plate. Because the group order changes depending on configuration, the same physical component may be controlled by a different group in different situations. This inconsistency increases the risk of misclassification and errors.

Figure 01 – Scenario with Rubber Pad Included

  • The top item that we identify as the Steel Plate is controlled by OBM’s middle “Grout Pad/Bevel Plate” group.

  • The middle item that we identify as the Rubber Pad is controlled by OBM’s top “Bearing” group.

  • The bottom item that we identify as the Concrete Pedestal is controlled by OBM’s bottom “Bearing Seat” group.

As you can see in Figure 01, the OBM Place Bearing menu is not in the correct order.

Figure 02 – Scenario without Rubber Pad

When the Rubber Pad is removed:

  • The top item (Steel Plate) switches and is now controlled by OBM’s “Bearing” group.

  • This incorrectly categorizes the steel plate as a rubber pad.

There is currently no option to correct this behavior or implement a workaround, which results in unavoidable mislabeling.

Figure 03 – Material Confusion

This inconsistency also creates:

  • Confusion regarding which material specifications apply to each group.

  • Confusion in the associated verbiage and descriptions.

  • Increased risk of documentation and construction errors.
