Don't worry about the Feature Type. It doesn't matter if you only want to use Select by Graphical Filter. The Feature Type is only used when using Terrain Model by Graphical Filter.
We have training on how to build Graphical Filters at learn.bentley.com. It's under a Terrain Modeling course but it works the same. Selection by Graphical Filter and Terrain by Graphical Filter more or less do the same thing except one builds a Selection Set, the other builds a Terrain.
