User option for linear stroking when creating terrains while processing field data in 3d files.

It would be very useful to big back the user option for stroking linear elements when creating terrains. This was available in v8i and greatly enhanced our surface models. Right now there is a configuration variable but it can't be set by users. A user option when creating terrains would give the user an option to improve the terrain with tighter vertices. Apparently there is an option for stroking in 2d files that have Geometry elements. I would like available to the user when processing field data in 3d files.

Setting this to Already Exists since the original post is concerned with stroking distance controls using Civil elements.

I am asking for an option for survey elements to "add a user stroking option for terrains made with survey elements". This user stroking option is only available for geometry elements but not survey elements.

James you are correct. The 2d geometry allows for stroking. But converting 3d to 2d is a multi step process.

I do a lot of grading models and creating 3d linestrings is a much easier workflow then converting 3d linestrings into 2d ORD geometry. It would be so much more efficient to have a tool to add stroking or vertices to a 3d linestring.

Stroking could be added to a feature in InRoads when a feature was imported into a surface. Maybe this is how to handle it in ORD. This is how I preferred to create surfaces in InRoads because of the option to add stroking at import. The image attached shows grading around an abutment using just 3d linestrings, a stroking option would make for a better terrain for sure.

Are you using OpenRoads geometry elements or traditional MicroStation linear elements? This already exists for OpenRoads geometry elements.

A command to add stroking (vertices) to 3d linestrings would be great.
