Ability to annotate slope between linear features in plan using the Civil Labeler
Ability to annotate the slope between two linear features in plan. Currently we can only annotate station and offset but it is very common for designers to check cross slopes.
We have also custom tools as a workaround, but we shouldn't be missing fundamental civil analysis tools like this (we had in legacy software) missing in a new modern civil software design package
There is a macro out there called "Measure 3d". Been around for years. Was upgraded to work for MS Connect a few years ago . Works in the 3d model and measures between two points.
For now, I add linear transverse features in locations where I want the slope to be annotated. The profile is created from the corridor. And then using civil labeler to annotate the slope of all transversal features. It works on the selection set. Tranversial lines are ruled to corridor geometry, co labels get updated on changes. Also it can apply different slope annotation based on the slope, eg % and ratio.
The biggest thing with this is for the slopes between linear features to be ruled to the goemetry so users can always have "live" information as to the latest design information.
Until this gets implemented, there are mechanisms to do this at intervals with the station base report, since you can compare the elevations and offsets of two elements, though I won't lie; it's at least a little convoluted. In any case, be careful of the "cross slope" that the XML seems to provide; I have no idea where that value comes from.
