It would be useful if some of the profile tools (quick profile from surface, profile from surface, etc) had a toggle to allow the profile to be set as active when it is created.
This would make it more efficient in cases like when you need to create a large number of linear features with existing ground profiles to be used in cross section or plan view annotations, since it would eliminate the step of having to open the profile view which can be slow on longer alignments/larger terrains.
Thinking about this some more, it would also be helpful to have an "activate profile button" of some sort in the profile view. The tediousness of click on a profile, hovering, and then activating cannot be overstated!
